Wait, is this an NFT? +
No, thank god. It's NFC — Near Field Communication. The chip your phone uses for Apple Pay. Passive, no battery, no blockchain, no JPEG of a monkey.
Can't I just delete the app and bypass the whole thing? +
You can. You can also throw the tag in a river. SnitchTag is for people who actually want help — not a maximum-security prison. That said: in group challenges, uninstalling = automatic loss. Your friends will see.
What if I genuinely need to use Instagram for work? +
You get 3 free cheats per week (adjustable). Cheats unlock everything for 15 minutes. Silent the first three. After that, every cheat pings your group.
iPhone or Android? +
Both. iOS 16+ and Android 10+. NFC scanning works out of the box on every phone made in the last 6 years.
Does the tag need a battery / charging / wifi? +
None of the above. It's a passive sticker. It pulls power from your phone when you tap it. Lifespan: ~10 years of being yelled at.
How does the location thing work? Is it creepy? +
You set the rules ("Monday 6–8pm, near the gym"). Your phone checks locally whether you're in range. We don't store your location on a server. Your friends only see the result ("Leo skipped the gym") — never coordinates.
What apps can I block? +
Anything installed on your phone. Pre-built lists for the usual suspects (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Reddit, Snapchat, Twitch). Add your own — even games, dating apps, the news.
What if I lose the tag? +
Replacement tag is €8. You can also pair a second tag from day one for backup or for a second location (bedroom + gym).
Is the app actually free? +
Yes. No subscriptions, no premium tier, no ads. The €35 tag is how we make money. That's the whole business.
Does this actually work? +
The friction is the point. Walking 4 meters to scan a sticker isn't hard — but it's enough to break the autopilot of "open Instagram → 40 minutes gone." Most users see their daily screen time drop 30–50% in week one. Group challenges roughly double that.
